Collection Dates for Daviess County, KY

(Approved by the Kentucky Dept of Revenue);

November 10 – December 10 = 2% Discount Period

December 11 – January 10 = Base Amount Period

January 11 – February 10 = 5% Penalty Period

February 11 – April 25 = 21% Penalty Period


The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office will be CLOSED for the observance of the following Holidays:

Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, New Year’s Day

Online payment of your County tax bill(s) can be paid through this link.

Multiple tax bills can be paid together by adding them to your cart. Online payments can be made with Credit or Debit card or E Check. Fees may apply and will be disclosed before submitting your payment.

Please note, erroneous payments made on or through any website other than the link above will not be honored by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

 

ACCEPTABLE FORMS OF PAYMENT:

1. Debit/Credit Cards – In person, or online. A processing/convenience fee will be applied and disclosed prior to processing your transaction.

2. Cash - In person only. Change can be given.

3. Personal & Business Checks, Cashier’s Checks, Money orders. (Must be for the exact amount)

4. Electronic Check – pay directly with your bank account for a small flat fee. Online Only.

Our office does not accept: Foreign Funds. We only accept checks drawn on U.S. DOMESTIC BANKS.

*Please make sure your “Written Legal Tender” matches the “Numeric” dollar amount on your check. The “Written Legal Tender” is how the Financial Institutions process and clears each check. if it does not match, we will return your payment for a corrected check. Check must also be for the exact amount: no rounding can be accepted.

MAILED BILLS

In accordance with KRS 134.119 we accept late payments with a United States Postal Service Postmark.

Bills are always mailed out the first week of November. 


If you get a bill and did not expect to because your home is in escrow, please reach out to your mortgage company for clarification. They may intend to pay it, but did not request the bill from us before mailing.

If you do not get a bill and expect to, give it a couple more days due to USPS delays. Or try looking your property up on our website, your mailing address could be incorrect; then you can always print one off. If you still need one mailed, call or email us with your updated address. 


If you get 2 bills, you may have had an exemption applied or other modification after the first bill was printed. Please read over both bills to see if one has the exemption applied; and you can check online for the most current balance due.


If you sold/bought your property after January 1 and believe you have received a bill in error, please contact your closing title company for clarification.


ADDRESS CHANGE

Please call or email us if your mailing address has changed from the prior year. Please include what parcels you need changed. 


INSUFFICIENT FUNDS


In accordance with KRS 514.040 (4)(b), there is a $25.00 Return Check fee for all returned checks. All tax bills paid by a Return Check will be Unpaid and additional taxes and penalties may apply.


DELINQUENT NOTICE

On February 11, Delinquent Notices will be mailed for all unpaid tax bills to the homeowner. At the end of our business day on April 25, all unpaid tax bills will be turned over to the County Clerk for collections, where additional significant fees will apply, and are subject to Tax Sale.


ASSESSMENTS

Per KRS 132.220, Property is assessed on January 1st of the tax year and then sent to the respective party.
