DCSO accepts applications year-round. When we have an opening, we will post it on our Facebook Page along with information about how and when to apply. The process usually begins with us emailing an application upon request. Please like and follow our page for hiring updates and other news. Below are the prerequisites for our Patrol Deputy and Court Security Officer positions. Current and former POPS certified personnel may not be subject to all of the requirements listed for these positions. Please contact us for additional information if you are a current or former POPS certified peace officer or if you are/were certified in another state.

  • Patrol Deputy Prerequisites

    • Must be 21 years of age.
    • Must hold a valid Kentucky operator’s license.
    • Must be a U. S. Citizen.
    • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
    • Must have 60 college credit hours, or 4 years active military service (with Honorable Discharge), or be certified peace officer through Kentucky or another state (in good standing with your current department).
    • Must not have any active Emergency Protection Orders or Domestic Violence convictions (from any state).
    • Must not have been convicted of a felony or other crimes involving moral turpitude.
    • Must complete ALL instructions and questions on application unless otherwise noted.

    Must successfully complete:

     * Thorough background investigation

     * Drug screening test

     * Physical agility test

     * Polygraph examination

     * Psychological test

     * As prescribed by KY Revised Statute No. KRS 15.315-15.510

     (Police Officers Professional Standards).

  • Court Security Officer Prerequisites

    • Must be 21 years of age.
    • Must hold a valid Kentucky operator's license.
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
    • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
    • Must not have any active Emergency Protection Orders or Domestic Violence convictions (from any state)
    • Must not have ben convicted of a felony or other crimes involving moral turpitude.
    • Must compete ALL instructions and questions on application unless otherwise noted.
